What is a ShedA Men’s Shed is a community based, non-profit organisation whose primary activity is the provision of a safe, friendly environment where members are able to work on meaningful projects at their own pace, in their own time, in the company of other men. A major objective is to advance the well-being and health of their members. Members of the shed come from all walks of life. The bond that unites them is that they are men with time on their hands and they would like something meaningful to do with that time. View Our Gallery |
Who we areLiverpool Men’s Shed is a not-for profit DGR charity which provides a well-equipped facility for men to meet and work on projects. The Shed was established out of a meeting convened by the Liverpool City Council and the Liverpool Salvation Army in 2011. Subsequently the location of the Shed’s operations has changed five times. Initially this restricted our activities, however, in our current location we are capable of attending to most requests. Contact Us |
What we doThe Men’s Shed provides opportunities for members to undertake personal, Men’s Shed or community-based projects. Members’ interests span an extensive range of activities including: woodwork, wood turning, toy making, metal work, welding, small engine repairs, gardening, computing, 3D printing, laser cutting, model trains and library. Other activities may be added depending on member’s skills or interests and the availability of space. | Why we do itMen’s Sheds were established to respond at a local level to a growing national need for suitable places for men to socialise, participate and contribute. The positive health and wellbeing outcomes from the provision of opportunities like this are now well documented. A major objective of the Men’s Shed is to advance the health, wellbeing and social inclusion of all members through interest-based activities. We do this by welcoming men to meet and work on projects that are first and foremost personally satisfying and, in many cases, making an important contribution to the wider community. |
